Teaching is tough. Luckily there are many free tools available to help make YOUR job a little easier. We will look at a few useful tools and how they can be integrated into your lessons. To allow for more sandbox time, consider creating an account with each of these programs prior to attending the session.
I created the first tool to help you access all the programs and resources that we are currently using or will be learning about this year. Follow the link below to see the STM Faculty Resource Symbaloo. If you want to use the resource, simply choose to USE the webmix and create an account. You can even make it your homepage. http://www.symbaloo.com/mix/stmfacultyresources
This useful tool allows you to "stich" several web addresses into one tiny url. Picture this: You would like your students to access 4-5 different websites to research materials for an assignment. You can paste all URLs into stich.it and "stich" them into one URL. Now you share ONE URL and they access [[#|all websites]] at once. Too good to be true? Try it yourself.
Do you like to use YouTube videos in your class, but don't have time to show the whole thing? Why not "chop" the video and keep only the piece you want? Better yet, why not chop it and have a separate URL (link) for just the "mini-tube"? Give Tubechop a try. You'll be glad you did.
Love YouTube but hate the ads? Get tired of the "belly fat" ads that remind you that you need to workout? Well, ViewPure is here. This nifty find allows you to "purify" the YouTube video window so just the video is visible.
Teachers are known as the premier multi-taskers. Wunderlist is the premiere tool. It allows you to create as many lists an you need. You can even share with family, friends, and colleagues. Best of all, it synchs perfectly with your smartphone.
